I made my first sword in 1987, and in 1992 decided to become a full-time swordsmith. Since then much research and development has gone into ensuring that today my blades are of an exceptionally high quality and are made using trusted Japanese methods.
Blades can be made to your specifications, along with other styles associated with the Samurai era, such as Yari (spears) or Naginata (polearms), giving you the opportunity to own a one of a kind handcrafted item. Additionally, although specialising in blades, polishing and habaki, I do make fittings and mounts for these blades on request.
Although I create my swords as objects of beauty, I keep in mind the original purpose of a sword, including the Japanese sword arts such as Iaido, Iaijutsu and Tameshigiri.
I forge custom Japanese-style swords. The blades are hand forged from EN45 (spring steel) and are hardened in the traditional Japanese way, by applying clay to the blade and quenching in water.
The swords are designed to perform and cut like Nihonto and should be handled with care as they are extremely sharp.
I specialize in making blades, polishing blades and making habakis, but on request I may make a completely fitted sword.
Standard copper habakis are handmade to precisely fit each blade with the bottom sem soldered in silver as made in Japan.
Different patterns of grooves and file marks are also added, dependent upon buyer preference.
All orders are assessed individually and are quoted on a case by case basis according to your requirements. Please enquire with regards to pricing.
The Habaki is copper and is either full-polished or with grooves and file patterns if required.
Orders can be placed via email or snail mail. You must make clear the following on your order:
Please note that I prefer to make swords that are historically accurate, and will not accept orders for fantasy swords from anime, manga, movies etc.
